A fallen leaf that feels no pain
I touch Autumn's serene, cool vein
Memory deals a shocking smack
An old but muted hurt comes back
Why now, this cruel delivering?
Fall's light is soft and forgiving
Walking down a lonely path
One strewn with so much aftermath
I slide to Autumn's mellow side
Dried my tears in the crisp air's tide
Gather all the crimson and gold
Stuff them in the pockets fold
I shall wilt into a new tone
just like the colored leaves milestone
The smell of woodsmoke calls me home
I remember, I'm not alone
