Have words ever cracked your soul in two, like bone?
Surely there are some stacked within; nonsensical as a koan
We all know how to build word bridges and bind hearts
To let words fly out of mouth; swallows that depart
Watching in awe as the dark murmuration twists
Only to be pierced by stoic silence's shifts
After the successive rapid-fire word fists
They then burn like ghost peppers on your tongue
Foolish boomerangs carelessly tossed, banefully flung
Thrice they have come back, swung and repeatedly stung
Words can destroy worlds; break the earth like an egg
Straphangers scanning for victims to unload bootleg
Bubbling beneath the surface, ready to erupt
When words are boiled hot, domineeringly instruct
Nothing good can come of that, simmer down a notch
Judgemental, fault-finding, accusing, can only botch
