You carried us in your heart until your last breath
Is that love all gone through the thieving of death?
Never
Love is timeless, patient in intrusion
As also untouchable, even in confusion
Those final words, the letter, bring your voice back to life
You have a sister, children, a niece and a wife
And in our leaden grief, we lean on each other
Feeling your Spirits presence above us, hover
We know you did not want to go
Fighting valiantly, in years racked with pain; time you tried to sway
What we would give, to have you here another day
Is that selfish?
No.
You told us how much you wanted to stay
Enormous courage made you determined
Dazzling tears, like diamonds on our lashes, never run dry
It hurts, every day living, burdened by this goodbye
Nothing comforts, memory shuffles
When night falls, our gaze searches for the brightest winking star
You are here, you are there, you are everywhere that we are
